I haven't seen a mainstream artist like Janelle Monae in...well maybe never. She's incredibly talented and her musical references to outer space intrigue me. It's obvious she carries many retro inspirations, but she also to me represents the future in music in a similar way like Amy Winehouse does. She's signed to Bad Boy, which really confuses me. I hope she becomes a huge success.
