Mad Men

I've recently gotten into the show Mad Men as a result of randomly tuning into a marathon of the show in promotion for the second season. It's AMC's first attempt at original programming. It is also the show that recently received several emmy nominations. Not only is it extremely well acted and written, the fashion is amazing.

My favorite look. So easy and cool.

I wish more men wore short, shorts.
Very few could pull this off and she definitely does.

M.I.A.'s Clothing Line

Since M.I.A. announced that her performance at Bonnaroo would the last of her music career, we've been waiting for signs of her rumored fashion line. No doubt that her designs will be influenced by her own notorious street wear style, ridden with neon colors and eye-catching graphic designs. Posted on her website is a somewhat nonsensical video that features some of the clothes we can look forward too, announcing "webstore coming soon."

This isn't Maya Arulpragasam's first endeavor into fashion. She also posed for Marc by Marc Jabob's spring/summer 2008 campaign. Although she sported monochromatic menswear for Marc, her own line is sure to be a standout; she's been quoted saying "With my stuff, because everything's really bright, if you lose it or someone steals it, you can see if from miles away and you can be like, OY! Give me my shirt back."

Primal Scream "Can't Go Back"

The Dario Argento inspired video features models Lily Cole, Alice Dellal, Rosemary Ferguson and Kiera Gormley facing their glamorous demise. The song's great and the video is brilliant.

Spiritualized at CITY HALL

I must admit to being a bit letdown by the spiritualized performance. It may have been my high expectations that lead to this though or that the sound in City Hall was horrible, his vocals were barely audible. I'm sure the fact that they didn't play an encore didn't help. Regardless, I saw spiritualized and although it may have been lackluster, it's fucking SPIRITUALIZED.

Two of the members of spiritualized came up to us after the show and said hello. They also said thank you for the crowd participation. They went further with the compliment by singularly addressing Brandon, by saying something along the lines of, "you were awesome, we were watching you the whole time." To which Brandon completely did not acknowledge them and walked away. He was pretty smashed. Well, whatever lacked in their performance was made up for with that compliment.

Devendra Banhart gets Natalie Portman to star in new video

The video is for "Carmensita." I'm not really a fan of the song, but the video is pretty entertaining.

Ready to be spiritualized

This is what I'm going to see tonight!

Kate Moss for US Vogue

Classic clothing is the theme of the issue

"My Drive Thru"

I'm sure by now everyone has heard the song featured in the new converse ads by Julian Casablancas, Santogold, and Pharrel Williams. The song is in part of their centennial anniversary that will feature several other odd, musical pairings. I absolutely love the song, although lyrically it feels like three different songs. I must say though that I was surprised when I heard J. Casablancas was in the campaign. I remember in the early days of the strokes they were being inundated with offers from fashion brands to appear in their ads but they declined. I don't know if it's the fact he actually wears converse that made him accept the offer or that he's lost all of his past punk principles. Well, let's be honest he lost those a long time ago. That was the time of "Is this it" and this is the time of semi-retirement and converse ads.

there's the full song.

CFDA/Vogue fashion announces it's 10 finalists

The finalists are: Richard Chai; Jason Wu; Alexander Wang; Irene Neuwrith; Albertus Q. Swanepoel of Albertus Quartus; Alejandro Ingelmo; Juan Carlos Obando; Swaim and Christina Hutson of Obedient Sons & Daughters; John Patrick of Organic, and Sophie Mayock and Lisa Buhai of Vena Cava.

I can't stop seeing Naomi featured in every ad and magazine cover

The lesson is that if you're in the fashion industry, a bad reputation only makes you more desirable. With that said, Naomi is a fantastic model and perhaps it shouldn't matter that she's full of faults.

She's everywhere..on Big Ben and London Bridge.

The photos are part of a Preen advert. They're actually selling those skates. I personally find them to be extremely unattractive.

I love Jourdan Dunn

The 19 year old Londoner has landed, possibly, her biggest campaign to date. She, along with Karlie Kloss, is the latest model featured in the H&M ads. At a time when the topic of discrimination in the fashion industry is a highly discussed issue, using a fantastic model like Jourdon Dunn is a positive step in progression.

Here are some of the pictures from the ad.

Nashville Lifestyle Photo Shoot

Today, I, along with Lindsey Timberlake, styled a photo shoot for Nashville Lifestyle. The theme of the spread was fall weddings, which Mel of Velvet Trunk photography shot at Carnton plantation. The magazine chose to use dress forms rather than models, but it ended up looking beautiful against the scenery of the plantation. Lindsey chose some beautiful dresses from Nashville boutiques. We got to work with Vera Wang and Badgley Mischka dresses. The temperature outside was hell like today, but the shoot was a great experience.

Favorite Street Shots

I'm not a huge fan of copious amounts of color, but the studded belt and leather strappy shoes make the look perfect. It's a appropriate mix of fun/flirty and sexy.

The outfit on the left is, in my opinion, the ideal fall outfit and I'm obsessed with the back of the dress on the right.
